Track info and stories

Here's some stories, background info and stuff about each song. I'm still updating this. If you have any questions about any song, please leave any quesitons!

1. Enter

The album opens with a film intro for your ears. Close your eyes and you can see it. Essentially this is Mr. Fastfinger entering the scene.

2. Go Flash Go

Felt that the first song (after intro) should be a rocking and fast tempo track. A kick start! Flashy guitars, fun, action, explotions, video games... I ended up re-arranging an old tune I composed when I was 18 (again!).

3. Wax on – Wax off

"Better learn balance. Balance is key. Balance good, karate good. Everything good. Balance bad, better pack up, go home" Mr. Miagi

This is not about polishing cars. It's about practising guitar. This song is filled with patterns. Repeating is a good way to practice. But it can also be a musical tool.

4. Goldfish

Waves. Hypnotic Waves. The main theme of this song is a repeating pattern of 5 rising notes.

This track was inspired by the music of Philip Glass. Especially his soundtrack to feature film Kundun is something I'd highly recommend to anyone.

5. The Ninjas I

This is a track with four lead guitar players! Too much for one track?! Huh.
Heavy metal!

In first round we have swedish guru: Mattias IA Eklundh, who's secret weapons are high pitched harmonics and two handed tapping.
The second round we area faces with Niko Tsonev from UK, he sweeps the pick and waves the wah-wah like no other.
The next to attack is Christophe Godin. Duck and cover, he is very aggressive and intense!
Fourth ninja to appear is sensei Fastfinger himself. Ninja slides and other jutsu in real action.

7. Big Trummors

"Big Trummors" offers more epic metal tonalities. Song has a strong feel to it. Powerful drums rhythms are in the key role and so are the simple yet strong melodies. Mr. Fastfinger meets the Keyboard Wizard, Jordan Rudess in the mist of the night.

8. Zing Zing

Zing Zing and Big Trummors were the first songs composed especially this album in mind.
It was relatively easy to get the basic structure and parts together for Zing Zing. The A parts were a problem.
A real problem case. Coudn't comeup with a melody or a line that would make me happy.

9. Creatures of the Midnight

"Creature of the Midnight" was initially much longer and very progressive in structure. With many, many additional parts included. There was even a disco outro there... Oh well.
During the editing phase (after recordings and before the actualy mixing)I realised I wasn't happy with the song. It didn't fit the albums overall feel. It was too different and absolutely not very cool.

Coming later.

11. Once There Was a Tree

Coming later.

12. EPIC

The final track before the encore is called "Epic". The simple chords structure together with Led Zeppelin inspired rhythms give the song very strong larger than life feel. Sometimes the melodies sound a little Japanese, sometimes Turkish, and even Finnish.

13. Exploding Solo

Famous from the GuitarShredShow.com website. Here is a complitely re-recorded version. Backing tracks is boosted with 7-string guitars, live drums and fuzz bass. If you would compare the original and this version you'd notice that the solo was slightly updated. After playing this many times at music fares and places the solo started to progress a little. The overall tone is more musical and powerful.

14. Tapping Boogie

"Tapping Boogie" is in a real song format for the very first time. Previously it has only been available as interactive jam game version online.
The version here is based mostly on the arrangement that was created for live demos. The live version is more about jamming and dueling between the two Mika and Mr. Fastfinger. Here I wanted to get a very simple, yet powerful arrangement of one lead guitar backed mainly by just drums and bass. Oh well some, percussion and synth pads added in a couple of places.
